When you retired and moved to Naples, you probably said something that most people who hate the hassle of packing and moving always say.
“I’m never moving again!”
After years spent raising children and working, you meant it. This was it. No more moves, no more boxes, and no more house-hunting.
Before you slam the door shut on the idea of ever hiring another moving company or packing up your grandmother’s china again, there are some good reasons why you might want to move at least one more time now that you’ve retired to the Naples area.
You Enjoy Your Activities
When you made the move, you were probably thinking of getting away from the hustle and bustle of your old life, neighborhood, and town. You wanted to enjoy your retirement in peace and quiet, until you realized how boring “peace and quiet” can sometimes be. Now you’re riding your bicycle, going for swims, meeting friends for lunch, and finally taking the time to enjoy hobbies you haven’t thought about in years.
All of that comes at a price. You spend more time in your car and stuck in traffic, especially during the season, than you do having fun. You’re constantly racing from one direction to the other. Moving to a community or neighborhood closer to what you enjoy doing may make more sense than constantly commuting. You already did your time stuck in traffic when you worked full-time; you shouldn’t have to do it now when you’re out having fun.
You Want to Be Closer to Your Friends

You live in Olde Cypress but your friends live along Pelican Bay. You love visiting them, and you adore the area. You all have such a great time watching sunsets with a glass of your favorite vino at one of the private beach club restaurants. When a nicely remodeled villa or a condo hit the market for the right price, it makes sense to move closer to the people you enjoy spending time with. You’ve saved yourself commute time, and everyone can enjoy each other’s company without being on top of one another.
When you move to a new area, you think you know where you want to live. Once you find friends and realize where you’re spending most of your time, it’s okay to move again. Visiting Naples and living here are two different things, and you may realize after a few years you want to live in another neighborhood, especially if you can be closer to your friends.
Not Every Golfer Loves Living in a Golf Community

You retired to Naples specifically so you could enjoy the weather and golf as much as you wanted. Moving into a golf community like Medittera seemed like the perfect combination. You'd wake up, get a cup of coffee, and hit the links every single day. Some people love their golf community, but you quickly realized it didn’t work for you.
You came to Naples to enjoy your retirement. Instead of living on the golf course, you’d rather live a few minutes away. Don’t worry. Living in a golf community didn’t work for you, but plenty of people love it, and you’ll find a buyer for your home. Maybe you’ll even play a round or two together after the closing.
Your Priorities Change
This won’t come as a surprise to you, but our priorities change as we age. In your 20s and 30s, it was raising a family and working. Later, you retired and decided to move to sunny Naples, Florida. Now that you’re here, you realize, you want to be closer to your family or you need a bigger home so your kids and grandkids have enough room when they come to visit. Maybe you thought you wanted a big home and now realize you don’t want the expense of maintenance and upkeep.
Whatever your reasons, you need a home that fits your life today, not yesterday. A move to a better home for you and your family may be the solution you’ve been looking for. Your home is supposed to be a place away from the world, not a source of stress because it doesn’t suit your needs anymore.
If you said, “I’m never moving again!” and now you realize that’s exactly what you need to do, don’t feel bad. It happens to a lot of people. Our lives change and what we need and want changes with it. Thankfully, you’re here in Naples with plenty of communities and lifestyles to choose from.
